Scripture: “And they said to Him, “We have here only five loaves and two fish.” He said, “Bring them here to Me.” Then He commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass. And He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke and gave the loaves to the disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitudes.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭14‬:‭17‬-‭19‬ ‭

Reflection: The disciples looked at the crowd and immediately saw a problem. Thousands of hungry people, and in their hands they only have five loaves of bread and two fish. It wasn’t enough.

How often do we feel the same way?

We look at what we have to offer— our time, our strength, our patience, our resources, and it feels small. We sometimes whisper the same words the disciples did: “Lord, this is all I have.”

But Jesus never asked them to multiply the bread. He only asked them to bring it to Him. “Bring them here to Me,” He said.

Jesus took what seemed insufficient, looked up to heaven, blessed it, broke it, and gave it back to the disciples to distribute. And somehow, in His hands, it became more than enough. That’s the miracle of surrender.

God doesn’t ask us to bring abundance. He asks us to bring obedience. He doesn’t require perfection— only what we’re willing to place in His hands.

When we place our “five loaves and two fish” before Jesus, He blesses it, breaks it, and multiplies it in ways we could never imagine. What feels small in your hands becomes overflow in His.

Prayer: Lord, sometimes what I have to give feels so small. Some things don’t seem like enough. But today I lay what I have before You, I ask You to take it, bless it, and use it for Your glory. Remind me that in Your hands, even the smallest offering can become more than enough. In Jesus Name, Amen.
