Scripture: “But even if he does not rescue us, we want you as king to know that we will not serve your gods or worship the gold statue you set up.” Daniel 3:8

Reflection: In Daniel 3, King Nebuchadnezzar made a gold statue and commanded everyone to bow down and worship it. The 3 Hebrew boys – Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, refused; and they were threatened to be thrown into the blazing fire. The 3 boys said that God can rescue them from the fire but even if He doesn’t, they will still never bow down to the other gods.

The king became very angry, and ordered for the furnace to be heated seven times more than customary. The furnace was so hot that it killed the men that carried the 3 boys to the fire. After they were thrown into the fire, the king saw a fourth man in there with them and they were walking around in the fire. When they came out of the fire, they were untouched – no effect from the fire, not even the smell of smoke.

Just like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in a time of uncertainty, even though they didn’t know for certain how it would end for them – they still put their full trust in God and kept their faith. To this day, this story is a beautiful example of steadfast and unwavering faith to all Christians. Even if God doesn’t answer you according to how you expect Him to, trust Him. Even if things are not good right now, He still is. Even if you are thrown into a fire, trust that God is walking through it with you and you will come out of it!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, today I lay all of my doubts and fears at your feet. I trust that you will work through every situation according to Your will. I trust in Your plan for my life. I stand on Your promise to prosper me and not to harm me. Lord, help me to remain steadfast in hope and faith. I pray this unto the name above all names, Jesus Christ. Amen.
