Reflection: Jesus Christ is the powerful and dependable anchor for our souls. Imagine a ship in the middle of a stormy sea and the waves are crashing in on all sides. The winds are pulling you this way and that way. The sailor lets down the anchor, so that the ship will remain fixed through the storm. The anchor may not stop the storm – but it holds you steady through it. While things around us are chaotic and crashing down externally, we hold onto our internal hope, Jesus Christ, who is the firm and secure anchor for our soul. We have a living hope and we serve a living God. He is faithful and His promises remain true, stand firm on His unchangeable Word. If you are facing the stormy seas of life, cast down your anchor.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to not be afraid of life’s storms, but instead to anchor my heart in Your Word. Help my faith be proven trustworthy as I hold onto You, the anchor of my soul. I trust You, God. I pray that You will guide me in truth and love through every trial, tribulation, and temptation. I pray all this unto the name above all names, Jesus Christ. Amen.
